Pan-Seared Salmon with Lemon Butter Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 4 salmon fillets 
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Lemon slices for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preparation:

    • Start by patting the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Removing excess moisture from the salmon will help it get a nice sear when cooking.
  2. Season the Salmon:

    • Season both sides of each salmon fillet with salt and pepper. You can also add other seasonings like paprika, garlic powder, or dried herbs for extra flavour if you like.
  3. Heat the Pan:

    • Heat a large skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the olive oil and allow it to get hot but not smoking.
  4. Sear the Salmon:

    • Carefully place the salmon fillets, skin-side down, into the hot pan. If your fillets don't have skin, you can start with either side. Sear for about 4-5 minutes, or until the salmon easily releases from the pan and has a golden crust.
  5. Flip the Salmon:

    • Gently flip the salmon fillets using a spatula and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked to your desired level of doneness. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
  6. Make the Lemon Butter Sauce:

    • In the same pan, add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Then, add the butter and let it melt. Squeeze the lemon juice into the pan and stir to combine. Allow the sauce to simmer for 1-2 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  7. Serve:

    • Plate the salmon fillets, drizzle the lemon butter sauce over them, and garnish with chopped fresh parsley. If desired, add lemon slices for an extra touch of freshness and presentation.
  8. Enjoy:

    • Serve your pan-seared salmon hot, accompanied by your favourite side dishes such as steamed vegetables, rice, or a salad.
